The Hazar Balyk Open Joint Stock Company was created to implement the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan, according to which the Production Complex for artificial breeding of sturgeon fish, black caviar and processing of Caspian and other fish species was built and launched into service on the sea coast of the Balkan Region near to the Administrative Center of Turkmenbashi District by September 2015.
Production Complex of the Hazar Balyk OJSC is located on the shore of the Caspian Sea, near the protected area. It includes an aquaculture farm and a fish processing plant.
Over the years that have passed since the opening of the Industrial Complex, the company has made a qualitative leap forward in its development.
Privatization of the Balkan Balyk State-Owned Enterprises and the Turkmen Balyk Trading House
A decisive step in the formation of the vertically integrated business of the Hazar Balyk Company was made through privatization and integration in the OJSC business form at the end of 2018, the privatization covered the Balkan Balyk and the Turkmen Balyk former enterprises of State Committee for Fisheries, the first of which serviced as the fishing fleet in the Caspian Sea, and the second operated as a network of specialized fish shops in Ashgabat. As a result of privatization, the Hazar Balyk OJSC acquired both a fishing fleet and a trading house.
Today, the Hazar Balyk is the only vertically integrated fish business in Turkmenistan that provides condition for the company's participation in various stages of creating products for consumers:
